Ganpati in 2010

Image
Oh well thankfully I was home this year and I had an off for Ganesh Chaturthi, so I did my little bit :) Happy Ganpati and Eid Mubarak to everyone... Big Hugs !! May all of you get showered with blessings and may you and your family continue to be healthy and happy always. I also saw Dabangg yesterday and I enjoyed it an awful lot, esp the songs and kick-ass no-sense action. It sure is a good choice for some meaningless laughter with family and friends. Love...

Small Mercies

Image
Small mercies, tiny joys that are always there, we're just too busy to notice sometimes :) raindrops sliding down the windowpane in the cafeteria. smiling to yourself like a buffoon on readin Deb's email right in the morning. imagining him in his kindergarden night suit and laughing. reading an inherently sad book and feeling like life could've been worse, uttering a silent thanks that it isn't. having someone who knows you so well that your heart brims over everytime you realize it. having to take a holiday and making shopping lists. dreaming of drops of heaven dipped in butter. recovering from sudden bouts of nostalgia and pain, and smiling at the irony that is life. Essentially the whole world around can crumble to sand, leaving you all alone to gather the dust; the beautiful chapters of your life can suddenly catch fire and be burnt to ash, leaving black soot on your hands and your heart; all can be completely wrong and you can feel like the deliberate victim of som...

Metamorphosis

Image
She has metamorphosed into a discarded piece of clothing. That green shirt that he bought years ago on some unreasoned whim. Just an impulse. He wore it a couple of times before it was ripped beyond repair on a rusted nail. Now it lies crumpled at the back of his closet because he didn't have the heart to throw it out. It waits for him to open his closet everyday in the morning, when he picks out what to wear. It watches him, from its place in the back, as he dresses up in his new, freshly laundered clothes. All this while it secretly hopes that maybe someday he'd pick it up, air it out and smooth its creases with a loving touch, smiling at the memories it brings. It also dreads the day when (if) he decides to get rid of it. But most importantly it just waits with undeterred patience for him to think about it and do something.

Vacuuming the head into oblivion

Image
Have you ever felt the need to clean your head because it screamed ‘ overload ’ from disconcerting thoughts? I figured the best way to forcefully push all troubles to the ‘archives’ section is to shove yourself into immediate slumber. One such recent session later I realized that not only was I feeling a lot better, I could also see that my worries weren’t in fact as big as the Rock of Gibraltar and could be worked around if I tried. The eternal optimism that makes me ‘ me ’ always resurfaces with time. Image Credits: DeviantART -- Sent from my mobile device

Many Firsts - I

This is an interesting story. One that began to keep a promise I’d made to my sunshine long ago. Uh well, I was finally living away from home with a fair amount of independence and a lot of possibilities, I was earning my own money (Okay I was also broke and indebted to my own Dad but let’s not talk about that just now :P) and now was the time to keep my word. So I decided to utilize my optional holiday making the vday weekend a long one and go to Hyderabad. That’s not the interesting part; the interesting bit is about how I could not tell my folks that I was making the trip and how everything fell in place. Cut to 3rd Feb 2010 Sneha and I went to Thiruvanmiyur to book tickets; she was goin to Bangalore the next weekend. I finally managed to get an APSRTC bus ticket from Chennai to Hyd for the 11 th Feb, 8pm. Liberating, the one word which describes my feelings right then; I had never travelled alone, especially without the knowledge of my family. I remember I had to buy a ...
